Day 7 - Raw Food Diet = GREAT Looking Skin !

Wow and re-wow!

I am very very happy! My skin looks amazing..no breakouts to report since I started....I know THERE ARE no medical studies to support the claim that there is a direct link between the foods we eat and breakouts but from my own experience I have noticed a link :o)

Diet on Day 7:

Breakfast: home-made juice (carrots, grapes, pears, oranges) + warm tea + raw cereals + raw almond milk + a few cashews

Lunch: NOT RAW .... sorry but I was friends from France and it was just impossible to find raw food in this Chinese country :o)

no snack

Dinner: raw mix salad with broccoli, arugula salad, cashew, raw squash finley shredded, carrots, apples, sun dried tomatoes, olives and a tahini dressing.

Important thing: I am not craving for anything...amazing!

Talk to you soon!

Day 5 - Deflating -- Yeah!

Howdy!

I am happy 'cause I am not pregnant anymore....My tummy was so swollen yesterday that one of my neighbours asked me if I was pregnant! what a compliment!
I am returning to a flat state. yeah!

Yesterday I had a great raw lunch: 2 cups of sprouted lentils (home made of course) + pesto + half a raw cookie.

Snack: raw cookie + an apple + home-made cake (not raw at all)

Dinner: Raw salad full of goodies from sun-dried tomatoes, to salad mix to dried olives + tahini dressing (I mixed 2 Tbs of Tahini + 1 Tbs of raw pesto + 1 Tbs of olive oil + 1 Tbs of lemon juice)

Did not sleep too good as I was still in pain but after I put a warm "penguin" (a hot bottle covered with a plushed penguin :o) on my tummy, I felt much much better!

Breakfast: carrots + apple juice (I use a great juicer: the Breville Juicer).

Then, an hour later, 1 cup of raw cereals + 1 cup of organic soy milk and half a banana..that's a BIG breakfast!

I am off to some yoga now (abs, to help the deflating process ;o)

Have a wonderful raw day!

Day 4 - Oh! Joy!!!!!

I have found a RAW FOOD restaurant in my neck of the woods....yeah!!!

So yesterday I enjoyed a raw lunch which brought more variety than what I had been eating the first 2.5 days! Great!
They also had lots of supplies so I bought some dried fruits, raw bars and crackers and some spirulina (need to make some research on this one, seems to be very healthy).

I have felt exhausted all day with light headaches..Must be the detox kicking in!
And for a lady who is famous for having an iron-flat stomach, I am all swollen....Must be some detox impact too!

I have decided, based on Kaleah's advice, to go to a 50% raw food diet for now so that not to "traumatize" my body too much! Then I will gradually go to a raw food diet at 90%. It should be eaiser on my stomach!

Breakfast was not raw at all this morning: piece of cake (home made: oranges, cranberries, whole wheat, honey), and a rice/sundried tomatoes and beef dish + tea.
The rest of the day will be raw.

I forgot! for those of you who wondered if I weigh myself every day, the answer is no. Usually once a month :o) except here because I wanted to see!

Till then have a great day!

Raw Food Diet Recipe - Raw Squash Soup

My Fall Favorite! Raw Squash Soup!

I use a yellow squash such as butternut and let it sit at room temperature after purchasing. I peel the squash, seed it and cut it into cubes. I warm some pure water on the stove, careful not to heat it over 110 degrees.

Put the squash into a good vita mix blender or food processor and ad some of the warm water. Blend until smooth. Ad the following ingredients:

1 carrot, washed with the ends cut off
½ small onion, chopped
1 clove of garlic
½ bell pepper chopped

Ad the vegetables and blend into a puree. Season to taste with Nama Shoyu. Celtic sea salt, or Braggs Liquid Aminos, cumin, curry, turmeric, basil, rosemary, sage or whatever seasonings you enjoy. Ad the warm water to create desire consistency.

This recipe can be prepared in fifteen minutes for a quick and hardy meal.

Day 3 - I have gained 3 pounds!

Hello and good morning!

First, a little image of my raw food diet these days:

Ok....I had a lot of pistachios yesterday after my snack and then for dinner, I was more creative:
- an Apple/Cashew Salad Mix (recipe will shortly come)
- 2 slices of raw millet bread
- raw pesto
- raw cinnamon/date bread with honey
- and more honey in my raw tea :o)

Then I was exhausted and thought I would sleep like a Queen but when a thunder woke me up at midnight, it was the end of the night for me...I had some stomach ache (burn?)...at first I thought I was hungry so I ate an apple...and plus some cashew nuts.....but then I felt sick so I continued with Alka Seltzer. I thought this raw food diet was not for me but I decided to hold on to it for a few days.....maybe that's the detox part....

This morning I feel much better though tired (hey! I only slept 2 hours!).

Breakfast: 1 banana + the juice of 3 squeezed oranges + 1 Tbs of honey mixed in the blender with a heaped Tbs of my super green power food.
+ 2 small slices of date bread with honey

I think I am missing variety here.....but my order from EatRaw has not even been shipped yet! and where I am..I can hardly find anything for a raw food diet.....oh well, the good news it that the lentils are sprouting nicely and should be good for tomorrow....I have also put some soy beans in my sprouting process so these should be good on Friday!
Wow! I just weighed myself because I was onthe phone and did not know what else I could do while talking :o) and I gained 3 pounds!!! I cannot believe it! I went from 48.5 kilos to 50 kilos in 3 days! I just cannot believe it! I am either full of water or I am eating too much (and this I cannot understand how it can be!). Kaleah to the rescue please! (check out her page at: http://www.myprivatecoach.com/myPrivateCoach/coaches/kaleah_laroche.php)

et voila!

Yours,
Raw Valerie

Day 2 - I slept like a Queen

Howdy!

Well the first day went very well..I was not even hungry at all!
At 4 pm though, I forced myself to eat because I was afraid I would not get enough nutrients, vitamins et al from this diet. So I had some raw ”bread” with raw honey and lots of nuts.
For dinner I had salad mix + half an avocado..did not use salt but dulse instead….contains much less sodium! + a slice of raw bread + raw pesto.
Still have my hot tea…because it is cold here! And after all this is raw hot water so this should be find…..

The lentils are really sprouting now…need to ask my dear Raw Food Diet Coach Kaleah (you can check her page at : http://www.myprivatecoach.com/myPrivateCoach/coaches/kaleah_laroche.php ) when I am supposed to eat them: 3rd day, 4th day…doesn’t matter?

I slept like a Queen….don’t know if it the impact of my first raw food day or pure coincidence..but considering I am insomniac…it was pure pleasure!

Breakfast: 2 squeezed oranges + 1 squeezed grapefruit + 1 banana all mixed in the blender + 1 heaped Tablespoon of my green superfood stuff + 2 slices of raw bread and raw honey…I should survive till lunch :o)

Lunch: salad mix with cashews (raw of course), balsamic vinegar (hmmt this is maybe not allowed? Kaleah!!!??), raw salt, an avocado, raw bread, pesto, more nuts, a teaspoon of honey...and then I have been munching till now on nuts.... and a banana!

I usually have breakouts so I want to see if with this diet my skin becomes like a baby’s skin :o)….will let you know!

I am also losing my hair so hey! If it comes back..I am a converted Raw Foodist!

So far so good…I can even cook and bake cakes for my son (this morning) without wanting to taste a bite….

Have a great day!

Day 1 - Decision is taken to start today!

Hello my dear friends.......

We have a Raw Food Coach onboard but this is not the reason for my decision....Though her presentation of the Raw Food Diet may have participated in my enlightenment!
After having spent a rainy week end eating too much fatty cheese....so much that I became sick....and after having been badly sick over the past few years, I have spent this sick week end doing some research on the raw food approach.
I am ready to give it a try.
The purpose is NOT TO LOSE weight. The purpose is too feel healthier and more energetic.
I wake up tired, I have a hard time sleeping.....don't feel that good these days!
Just for the record, my weight this morning is 48.5 kilos for 18% body fat (according to the CDC I am technically underfat!)..we shall see if this diet impacts my weight and body fat or not.
I placed an order yesterday on www.eatraw.com to get all I need...and I put some green lentils in a dish with water to make them sprout. I need to ask Kaleah (our Raw Food Diet coach) if this is the proper way!

Will share more tomorrow......

oops...I forgot..I started the day with a hot tea...this I won't give up because I know how good it is for me (especially on a rainy day :o)

Because my order has not arrived from Eat Raw yet, I had the following breakfast: an apple, some sprouted grain whole wheat bun + raw basil/tomato pesto. Because it was chilly this morning, I ate standing above my oven with its door open :o)...and not to lose any minute, I contracted my glutes all the time I stood there!

Ok now the challenge is that I am having a business lunch in a restaurant.....what will I find there???
Well, I am back......Got a blueberry fresh juice + carrots, cucumber, sprouted soy beans and spinach. I was luck..there was a vegan organic bar!
On my way back, bought some raw bread, lots of beans to sprout in my kitchen and raw honey for the sweet tooth :o) and some cool raw nuts...funny! usually with roasted salted cashews, I cannot stop..here after a handful (and a small one) I just stopped naturally.....

Truly yours,
Valerie
